Do you sell blackout blinds?

We have a selection of blackout blinds in our Rollers range, which are perfect for cutting out light coming into your room. We also have a few dim-out blinds in our Rollers and Romans range.

All of our Roman blinds are lined, this helps to reduce the light, rather than eliminating it completely. Try choosing a darker Roman blind fabric as this will be more effective than the lighter ones.

What is the co-ordinated braid on Roller blinds?

The coordinated braid is a decorative trim that is put on the bottom of the blinds to complete the finish. This looks particularly good on the turret and scalloped bottom of the blinds.

Can we buy Louvres only?

Blinds-Supermarket doesn't currently sell louvres only for your Vertical blind. If you call our customer services team on 0800 916 7798 we may be able to help. Just replacing your louvres only doesn't always work out a lot cheaper, have a look at the price of our Vertical blinds and you may just be surprised!

Are your Roman blinds lined?

Yes all of our Roman blinds are lined, a lined roman gives you a more luxurious feel and is perfect for those lighter mornings when we just don't want to get up!

Although we also offer some of our Roman blinds as an un-lined option, they are perfect for decorative window treatments where diffused light control is required. This unlined value for money version of the popular Roman blind is soft in appearance and adds a contemporary feel to any room in your home.

What type of blinds would be best for my bathroom?

Bathrooms tend to be steamy, so it's best to choose a blind that can cope with these conditions. Venetians are good, although you may find that blinds from our wood Venetians range will warp. If you want a natural look, try our wood effect Venetians. These combine the look of wood with the practicality of aluminium blinds for the best of both worlds! Blackout Roller blinds are good in this environment and the most popular choice amongst our customers.

Can I cut down the Ready-made blinds myself?

No because of the excellent quality headrails used on all our blinds, we don't recommend cutting the headrail yourself. If you are looking for a blind to go in your recess it is really worth the extra investment to have a made-to-measure blind that will fit perfectly.

Can I buy blinds for my conservatory and are they difficult to fit?

You can order blinds for the sides of your conservatory from Blinds-Supermarket. If you have a uPVC conservatory you just need to take care to avoid screwing into the sealed unit when fitting your blinds.

If you would like blinds for the roof of your conservatory, we would recommend that you get a professional fitter to do this. If you phone our customer services team we will be able to recommend someone.

I don't understand the difference between exact and recess?

An exact blind will be made to precisely the measurements you entered onto the site. So if you want the blind to go on the outside of your window this is the type of measurement you should give us.

A recess measurement is needed for a blind that you would like to fit within the recess of your window. We make reductions to the blind to ensure that it will fit perfectly within your window.

What deductions do you make off each blind type and why does this vary depending on the blind type?

We make all the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit. This usually means we'll deduct 1cm from the width of your blind.

  • With Roller blinds, we also have to allow for fittings at either end of the blind as there is no headrail. This means the actual fabric is approximately 2.8cm less for an exact measurement and 3.3cm less for a recess measurement.
  • We also deduct a little more off Woodweave blinds, approximately 2cm, this is because of the nature of the blind –natural products, it does tend to move round a little more.
  • With Vertical blinds we make a slight deduction off the drop of the louvers, this is to ensure that they hang freely and aren't going to get caught on the ledge or carpet.

For more information, go to the How to Measure page.

If I supply my own fabric could you make my blind for me?

Unfortunately we don't offer this service. All of our fabrics are chosen as they are very high quality and all fabric will have had lots of tests to ensure our customers are happy with their blinds for years to come.

Do you only deliver blinds to the UK?

Currently we are unfortunately only able to deliver blinds within the UK.

How do I measure blinds for a bay window?

We recommend that you start by ordering the largest blind first. Once this is fitted, you can measure up for the remaining blinds using the edge of the headrail as your starting point. Our customers find that this is the most effective way of getting a great fit around a bay window - it prevents any gaps or overlapping. Have a look at our measuring page for detailed help

The louvres of my Vertical blinds won't rotate. Have I done something wrong?

This sometimes happens if the louvres were originally hung onto the headrail whilst the hooks were in the closed position. You need to take the louvres off the headrail and then turn the chain round until the hooks are in the open position. This means that when you rehang the louvres, you'll be able to see through them and out of your window. Your louvres should now rotate without any problems.

The louvres of my Vertical blind are not in line with each other. What should I do?

This is easily rectified. Pull the control chain until the slats are in the closed position, then gently force the chain and they will realign. You may need to try doing this both ways. Don't worry if you hear a noise, that's perfectly normal.

I really like the Personalised blinds but they aren't big enough for my window. Is there anything you can do?

We may be able to make the blind big enough for your window, this will depend on both the width and drop of your window. If you call our customer services team on 0800 916 7798 they will be able to advise you.

It is also possible to have an image printed across two or three blinds, this can look very effective especially on a bay window. Again if you give us a call on 0800 916 7798, we may be able to process your order for you.

Can you print a celebrity on my Personalised blind?

Before you send us any photograph please make sure that you have the necessary copy write for us to print this blind for you. We will not print anything of a pornographic nature.

I have a business and really like the idea of printing my logo on a blind but would like it to face outside is this possible?

This is becoming very popular with businesses. Just order your personalised blind in the normal way uploading your chosen logo or image and once the blind arrives, simply turn it to face outwards!

I bought a Wooden Venetian blind a few months ago and have just ordered another but they look slightly different. Why is this?

As wood is a natural product, the look and behaviour of each of our Wooden Venetian blinds will be different to the next. The grain may vary between each slat and other features may appear, such as pin knots, tiger striping, burl figures and mineral deposit.

These characteristics will make some slats seem darker or lighter than others. So we sort each of our slat shades into three colour classifications and always ensure that an individual blind is made using slats from the same classification.

So please remember this when you order a sample as this too may vary to the finished blind you receive, your sample is only an indication. Your finished blind will always benefit from its own shade variation, which guarantees uniqueness.

If you don't like these natural characteristics then we would recommend a wood effect Venetian blind.

What type of wood are the Wooden Venetian blinds made of?

Blind-Supermarket Wood Venetians are made from Basswood that is grown in sustained forests, this is perfect for Venetian blinds because of its strength and flexibility. The wood is kiln dried, which stabilises it, cut into slats and then stained to provide a colour range that varies.

Please be assured as all blinds are subjected to leading industry quality tests and remember too that the wood has been kiln-dried too for added stability. Every blind is checked before it leaves the factory.

My vertical blind has arrived but I do not have an Allen key, what should I do?

Our vertical blinds come with an Allen key in the same box as your louvres, if you cannot find your Allen key or loose it before installation of your headrail please ring our customer services department on 0800 169 3938 or email enquiries@web-blinds.com and they will send you a new one.

Can I change my mind about which side the control and bunch are on my headrail?

On most of our blind types you must make sure you enter your exact specifications including which side you want the control and bunch. However our vertical blinds have a reversible headrail meaning that you can change the control side when you receive your blind.
